GoSoFree Community Impact
For most people who have never been incarcerated, there is no understanding of the world that exists behind bars. Prisoners rely on family and friends to fund their individual commissary accounts so that they can purchase the most basic of necessities – personal hygienic items, stamps, stationary, shoes, clothing, radio, snacks, cold medicine, etc. Many prisoners have not seen any kindness from friends or family and have no money in their commissary accounts to purchase even the basic necessities. Our Mission is to have funded food pantries located in every dorm in every prison in the state of Florida and hopefully nationwide. Showing the love of Christ and showing compassion to the least, the last, and the lost among us. We are a 501C3 Ministry and fully registered with the Department of Corrections of Florida. We use donated funds to start pantry ministries behind bars to show Jesus’ love to those in need in a place where hope seems lost. We are open to everyone, and encourage men, women, and children to be a part of GoSoFree.
Most prisons in Florida only give inmates half a bar of soap per week. This is for bathing, washing hair, and washing hands.
Phone calls are still collected at a rate of about $.75 a min with a max of 15 Minutes.
Soup is available at the commissary for about $.65 each, however, cups and utensils are not included. You have to purchase them separately.
Inmates can now use funds from commissaries to send email and video messages. This is a fairly new process but it makes keeping in contact much easier.
Deodorant is not considered a necessity so this item is not given out. You can however buy a stick at the commissary for about $3.75.
Florida Prisons do NOT have air conditioning. Some may have AC in the visitor center but not in the dorms.
